How’d we pop up?

WHAT’S POPPIN’ was founded in 2020, but my passion for popcorn goes all the way back to 1991.

Picture this: Over two decades ago, a happy, pudgy little kid (me, James, AKA “Big Poppa”) loved nothing more than spending the night at grandma’s house. Every weekend spent there was awesome and created my best childhood memories—hands down!

The best part of those visits in the eyes of this young popcorn aficionado? When it was time to settle in for the night and snuggle up to my grandparents for a movie, I was allowed MY OWN PERSONAL BAG of microwave popcorn. To me, that was the truest form of love I had ever received. Ever since then, popcorn has brought me joy every time I eat it.

In 2020, I decided it was time to extend that joy to you and your family by founding my own popcorn company. To our surprise and delight, we have already sold thousands of bags within our first year! Each bag of popcorn is hand-stirred with care, joy and that same love that my grandmother put into each freshly-popped bag, made just for me.

It is our goal to bring you delicious flavors that you and your family can bond over, or that you can enjoy solo, knowing that someone made this wonderful treat for you with love.

With our first year, we are grateful to have expanded our business, growing from our roots as a backyard “Pop-op” to now working with an FDA approved indoor facility with multiple popcorn machines. We hope that you will join our family on this journey to dish out the freshest, tastiest and highest quality popcorn that money can buy!
